Ex-marine James Pritlove raised £1300 for #Willdoes
Ex-marine James Pritlove raised £1300 for #Willdoes yesterday completing the 32-mile march in just over 10 hours.
The route for the annual ‘Summer March: It’s Going to Get Hairy’ involves competitors walking or yomping from Weymouth to Swanage and includes the infamous rollercoaster - steep vertiginous ascents of over 2100 metres.
Over 120 people took part and James, 54, was first to cross the line with seasoned ultra runner and veteran Darren Hardy from Fleet.
The event which began at 8am with some competitors finishing in the dark at around 11pm was organised by Rock2Recovery, a charitable organisation that supports veterans, serving military personnel and emergency responders who are affected by stress.
Says James: "Good effort to everyone who completed - the weather was challenging with us all starting in torrential rain and some of the steep climbs were rather emotional! Huge thanks to the organisers who ran around for hours supporting us and helped us raise so much money for good causes."
